Review of Greater (2016) by Movieman67 — 14 Jul 2020
While many will dismiss this as a heavy handed, beat you over the head spiritual essay on God's mysterious ways, it's actually much more than that: it's an opportunity for us to realize how fleeting this life is, and the importance of actions over words.
Brandon Burlsworth's life, faith and work ethic may be exaggerated to some degree (as most "based on a true story" tales often are); but the undeniable fact remains that he is regarded by many as one of the greatest walk-on players in college football history.
Ever. That distinction and the effect that his legacy continues to have to this day, over 20 years later, gives a ring of authenticity to the type of man that Brandon was. This movie is not for the cynical, but if you want to enjoy a Rudy-esque tale with some emotional heft, then I recommend that you watch Greater.
