Review of Greater (2016) by Alex B — 08 Jan 2017
I'd never heard of Brandon Burlsworth and only came across this movie by accident. I tend to love real life stories of underdogs triumphing over adversity though so I thought I'd enjoy it...and I did.
The way it's composed is really interesting and well done. It doesn't have the usual triumphal ending that you'd expect. Instead, it uses the life of Burlsworth to raise some big questions about life, meaning, pain, faith and God.
I don't know if it answers those questions as powerfully as I'd have liked, but it's certainly a film that leaves an impression, and it affirms much of what is good in life. I'm glad I found it.
