Review of Gran Torino (2008) by Ben C — 25 Aug 2012
Gran Torino is directed, produced, and is acted by Clint Eastwood. Clint Eastwood stars as Walt Kowalski, a retired Korean War veteran who lives alone since his wife died and doesn't prefer his family that well.
His prized possession, his Gran Torino, is almost stolen by a Korean kid who just moved next door. Walt will do anything to save his Gran Torino from being stolen. I really enjoyed this movie, I've never really seen a Clint Eastwood film before, but I really liked this film.
It has solid performances, only by Clint Eastwood though, the Korean girl and boy next doors acting was really bad. It was funnier than I expected, more touching then I expected, and more suspenseful then I expected (only towards the end).
The ending was great, I knew what was going to happen, but that's not the point. But, in the middle, it was very 'not on the point' of the film, but it was very interesting. I couldn't take my eyes off of it.
Final Consensus: Gran Torino is great Clint Eastwood movie, boating a great performance and a dramatic installment into his directing collection. It' surprisingly funny, but touching at the same time.
