Review of Gotti (2018) by Mike M — 21 Jun 2018
To me, it was not a bad movie. However, it is hard to be objective when the image of Armand Assante's portrayal of Gotti is still fresh in my mind. Not to mention Anthony Quinn as Neill. Gotti was a true bad guy loved by some in the neighborhood because they feared him.
He, unlike most mob guys was an atheist with no regard for the Lacoa Nostra hierarchy, until he reached the top. He was definitely NOT a rat. If you watch the prison meeting between he and his son it showed he was a cold evil bastard.
this film did not capture his cruelness. it just celebrated that he was not a rat. I'm looking forward to Scorsese's "Irishman" cause that's gonna be a real true story about the mob life which is not glamorous or nice in anyway.
