Review of Gothic (1987) by Zoe U — 05 Feb 2009
The appeal one can draw from camp over the top acting will determine how much someone can get from this film. Richardson is almost being serious in places but the rest of the actors surely aren't. It does contain genuinely spooky moments but many many ludicrous ones in between. Not a good film but one I somewhat learnt to like.
Byrne makes a wonderful and pleasingly intense Lord Byron.
