Remake considered useless and depowered compared to the homonymous 2014 Austrian movie, although the pair of directors of the original is among the executive producers of this US version together with Naomi Watts who plays the protagonist. I have no prejudices against remakes while I have them against a Shyamalan model style, which tends to focus on the final twist even when the story told is not engaging enough to arouse interest in its conclusion, whatever it is. "Goodnight Mommy" is just above mediocrity and Watts is almost 54, the right age for roles by now as a grandmother.
