Review of Goodnight Mommy (2015) by Richard S — 09 Aug 2017
The UK are missing out, this still hasn't received a cinema or DVD release in this country and it's only by chance that I found it on Google Play Store. It's quite possibly one of the creepiest and unnerving films I have ever seen. It's a basic premise that plays on fears that children have of their parents and vice versa. A mother returns home to her 2 sons after a horrific accident which has left her face covered in bandages while she recovers from reconstructive surgery. The children are excited at first to see their mother return but they soon begin to suspect that the lady behind the bandages is not their real mother. To reveal anymore would ruin a well written story which instantly demands a second viewing once you have watched the final scene of the movie.
A superbly tense movie that will especially get under the skin of any viewer who has children.
