Having not known the story behind Edward R. Murrow, Good Night and Good Luck is a fascinating and enlightening look at a man who wanted nothing but justice and the truth. With a stellar cast led by the sensational David Strathairn, who nails every monologue he has, Good Night and Good Luck is a gripping and fascinating depiction of television in the 1950s.

The cast is all very strong that includes George Clooney (who also directs and wrote this great film), Robert Downey Jr., Frank Langella and Jeff Daniels to name just a few. But it is Strathairn who is the films real winner.

You can feel that the world is on his shoulders, the pressure of getting the speech right on the air, and the feelings that he has towards the American public. I found myself anticipating the next newscast and wondering what the reaction would be.

With its nice artistic touch of 1950s music, style and look, I can firmly say that this is a thinking mans movie. I also enjoy the fact that it is all in black and white, just like TV is the 1950s. Edward R.

Murrow wanted television to be more than just "lights in a box" as he says, he wanted TV to mean something. Well this movie sure meant something, I recommend this to anyone who wants to see something fresh and different.

Good Night and Good Luck is a highly fascinating look at issue of the 1950s and how Murrow just wanted the people of America to know the truth. Thumbs up!
