Review of Good Night, and Good Luck. (2005) by George E — 06 Jun 2010
I think this movie is terribly overrated. I understand that it has historical value and meaning, especially in the States, but I felt it was very pretentious and extremely boring. Maybe I didn't watch it under the right circumstances but I felt this to be a totally unnecessary movie. It was totally unnecessary for it to be 100% black and white, it was boring and half the movie was stock footage of old senate hearings, or at least that's what it seemed like.
It gets a 4 from me because it does seem like it tries to be important and relevant, but in 2005 and beyond, I don't see how preaching about how the media didn't have rights 60 years before is relevant to anyone. Especially when you consider how bias and irrelevant TV media is these days.
4 out 10 for trying. That's it.
