Set in the mid-fifties, this drama based on true events tells the story of Ed Murrow, a CBS journalist whose personal attacks on Senator McCarthy helped rid America of his callous persecutions. Clooney with this film shows he can direct just as well as he can act, as he deals with a topic which he obviously feels passionate about,.
Black and white cinematography and great accurate art direction really take one back to those times and add the whole setting a hint of romanticism and nostalgia. The casting of Strathairn as Murrow is perfect.
