Review of Good (2008) by Denise H — 14 Oct 2010
Love Viggo Mortensen movies but the plot on this one just escaped me. Jodie Whittaker was horrible in her role as the mistress/wife. By the time she became his wife I wanted to just slap her and her cardboard acting.
Gemma Jones was excellently pathetic as Viggo's mother but I didn't buy the tuberculosis diagnosis (think dementia would have fit the role better). And poor Jason Isaacs as the Jewish friend didn't have enough dialogue to flesh out the angst of a friend not helping his best friend.
Would have been better if more detail had been given about the role of academics in forming the mindset of breeding a perfect "race" and eliminating inferior peoples and the handicapped.
