Review of Zeitgeist: The Movie (2007) by Jp M — 04 Jul 2012
I've seen movies like this is the past that relate Christianity to ancient astrology. I enjoyed what is referred to as part one which examines Christianity in relation to astrology and its similarities to religions which predate it existence. A LOT of information is thrown at you during this portion of the movie most of which I was inclined to believe as some of the references and evidence were things I already know.
BUT - Then the movie moves into 911 conspiracy theories in "part two" ALL of which have been debunked by peer reviewed analysis of which I was also aware. This made me think twice about the credibility of the information in the first part of the movie. Furthermore, unlike the first part of the movie which was presented in an educational format, the second part was presented in a propaganda esk way. Quick clips, out of context pictures, quick sound bites with creative editing, even throwing in fictional movie clips.
Part three goes on the claim the monetary policies of the United States are a huge conspiracy and other ridiculous claims such as freezing Japanese assets during WWII somehow justifies Japans attack. Also, the popular claim that the Gulf of Tonkin was the only catalyst for Vietnam. Then they rap up with the Patriot Act is precursor to an American dictatorship similar to Nazi Germany complete with cut scenes of Bush and Hitler and attacks on Fox News ( it always comes back to Hitler ).
In conclusion, if you hate America and would like to believe that Christianity and America is the source of all evil, you'll love this movie. If you know anything about any one subject they cover in the political portion of this movie, you will not be able to trust the information presented that you may know nothing about.
