Gonzo: The Life and Work of Hunter S. Thompson is an excellent documentary covering Thompson's work starting with his involvement with the Hell's Angel's up to his almost prescient breakdown of what would happen after 9-11 and of course, his fascination with drugs, guns and fame.
Worth watching if you are at all interested in the"60's counter-culture movement. He crossed paths with the famous and infamous turning over their stones and watching the all the bugs crawl out.
Many of Ralph Steadman's extreme drawings and artwork are featured that give you a visual clue to Thompson's state of mind.
