Review of Gone with the Wind (1939) by Gavin P — 01 Feb 2014
I was really hoping for more of the Civil War! It's basically a simple love triangle and I still can't quite comprehend what happened throughout to make it last over 3 & a half hours! Sure, there's some good acting and both Leigh and Gable are strong leads, but their fighting and 'love'/'hate' often seems pointless.
I wish the last lines in the film were him saying "frankly my dear, I don't give a damn!" and not her saying "tomorrow's another day"! Yes, it's well made for a film from the 1930's, but the score's not that great and the story really doesn't involve you as much as it would've if the film were more succinct.
