Review of Gone with the Wind (1939) by Matthew H — 29 Sep 2014
Gone With the Wind really is the definitive movie that started large scale Hollywood filmmaking. It's sprawling story, beautiful visuals, and tight screenplay make it one of the most successful and famous movies of all time.
75 years ago, this film came out, and even back then people knew it would was different than other pictures at the time. At almost 4 hours, it is one of the longest movies I've ever seen, but it didn't feel long at all; time passes quickly watching this because of the way it draws you in and holds you until the last scene.
