Review of Gone with the Wind (1939) by Duncan P — 20 Jul 2018
Overly long, very drawn out, poorly paced and often just outright boring racist, historical revisionist bullshit. Most of the film is spent on egregious political twaddle, and the supposed emotional climax of the film in the form of Rhett and Scarlett's relationship is blitzed through so quickly you don't have time to process it or care - but then, maybe that's for the better because Scarlett proves one of the most outright unlikeable protagonists I've ever had to suffer through a film with.
It might have been important to the history of cinema, and be pretty spectacularly shot for the era, but my God it's overrated.
