Review of Gomorrah (2008) by Pravesh B — 28 Nov 2011
A memorable book by Roberto Saviano makes a solid film. So many stories and a solid ensemble makes it a unique film. Unlike many celebrated gangster films Gomorrah is deglamorised, quite like a Documentary actually.
Sad, hopeless drama comes together with some rivetting sequences. Acting, music, visual style & cinematography are all first rate. Screenplay is a tough one, knowing the book. Many parts of the book are missing but one should read the book & see the film as a study of contemporary modern screen-writing.
