Review of Golden Door (2006) by Jussi K — 24 Feb 2008
Brilliant and stuningly beutiful. Charlotte Gainsbourg amd Vincenzo Amato are unbelievable in this movie. it has very little plot and focuses entirely upon the lives of a small sicilian family and an enigmatic englishwoman in a surrealist journey from the old world to the new. its slow and can be confusing so you might want to watch it two or three times.
Its easy to overlook the soundtrack but its artfully aranged, beautifuly performed, and its symbolic use in the story is delicously subtle.
