Review of Godzilla vs. Megaguirus (2000) by Gavin S — 08 Jun 2007

This movie is one uneven mess. It gets off to a great start, but then the real plot kicks in. Japan decides that the only way to destroy Godzilla is to fire a miniature black hole at Godzilla from an orbiting satellite! And they miss! If that wasn't enough, the first test of the thing releases a horde of monster dragonflies from another dimension.

And then the dragonfly's queen, Megaguiras, shows up and after a movie full of good effects we are suddenly given a stiff puppet on obvious wires. If that wasn't bad enough, a movie that has been serious almost the whole time suddenly becomes a Three Stooges skit.

I really want to know what the director was thinking. It has some fun moments, but it's probably the worst movie in the Millennium series.
