Review of God's Pocket (2014) by Manny C — 06 Jun 2014
A ragtag group of working class schmoes stumble into one dilemma after another in the feature directorial debut of Mad Men star John Slattery. God's Pocket had the potential to be outstanding. Instead, it's barely ok.
The best thing about it is the fact that it boasts one of the final performances of the late Philip Seymour Hoffman who is terrific as a guy who's no good stepson is killed during a construction job, while John Turturro, Richard Jenkins and Christina Hendricks round out a stellar cast that doesn't get much to do.
Such a missed opportunity.
