Review of God's Not Dead 2 (2016) by Jacob S — 17 Mar 2017
First of LOL, to have SO many people preach hate on a movie for not sharing their values VS the actual quality of the film is laughable, and what is the saddest part of this is that a majority of them are 'professional' critics. It's said how bias is now filtering into the real world and making people into the characters this movie preaches about. Most of the critics have reviewed this movie harder than other titles they review due to its nature and subject matter(which probably isn't the same as theirs). Even those who profess they ARE Christians are either being very dishonest or they are utilizing 'relation' tactics to make you think that they ACTUALLY have an unbiased opinion. Speaking of which, having met actual AETHEISTS, I can tell you most ARE cynical a**holes, who believe faith in God is like faith in 'fairy creatures' or the tooth fairy herself. Which given a MAJORITY of Christians are NOT cynical a**holes who ARE targeted by bias as 'bible-thumping, finger-waging, virtue-spewing hypocrites' let me just say this...
This movie is great in the aspect that it plays to its target audience; socially targeted and openly mocked Christian men and women, a group of individuals who are so easily targeted due to the bias which imposes that ALL Christians are 'privileged', just like propaganda that says; ALL 'men' and 'white people' are privileged. So news flash, being the MAJORITY doesn't make you 'privileged', it just makes you an 'easy target' for the 'wolves' who prey on societies acceptance of belittling the majority. So to put it modestly, if you CAN'T be unbiased or at least watch a movie without a narrow-minded perspective(given the abundant amount of 'hokey' concepts in movies i.e. 1 man killing an extremely large group of other men all by himself or a group of men going out and abducting women off the street in a country setting and the cops being in on it).
The God is Not Dead franchise caters to its audience and get's high praise from its target audience, so the best way to judge it is by the individuals who give it a 3-4 star rating, these tend to be the least politically motivated judges and will review it how it was intended to be reviewed; in its entirety. It is also important to remember that this movie like almost ALL movies, is based in the realm of fantasy; it's not REAL. However the credits do mention court cases and events which it does take its inspiration from. However the humorous aspect of this movie was that it was released on April, 1st which kind of plays on the fact that the movie is NOT supposed to be seen as a 'practical joke' yet still opens itself up to bias scrutiny. It is also important to remember that even though a LOT of the archetypes in this film seem 'ridiculous', there ARE people out there in the US who feel this way and act just like this(which is pretty sad...). Another thing to remember is that the basis of society in the US is that of tolerance, even if you don't have similar views or values. So to be fair to this film, given I HAVE seen WORST films(league of extraordinary gentlemen, I spit on your grave and Caligula to name a few) I give this film 3 1/2 stars, but am marking 5 stars to make up for the amount of BIGOTRY on the boards here.
