Review of Gods and Generals (2003) by Zach D — 22 Jan 2008
A great film about the early years of the American Civil War. Not quite as good as Gettysburg, which was made by the same creative team.
This movie gets a bad rap for seeming sympathetic towards the Confederacy. I don't think that is so. The CSA was winning the war up until the battle of Gettysburg, so I'd expect a movie about the first years of the Civil War to detail Confederate victories and the fascinating personalities that won them.
