Watched this again after an absence of some 6-7 years, and it's certainly not as good as I used to think. Yes it's disturbing, depressing, even terrifying. But there's no good to balance out the bad, nothing particularly thoughtful or moving or enjoyable.
It left me feeling nauseous and unsatisfied at the same time.
