Review of Girl, Interrupted (1999) by Giohaikal — 30 Jun 2022
Great performances, magnetic characters but with a super-hero like ending. It's overall a great movie, Jolie shows her absolute best and Wyonna's character is relatable and convincing, however they did deviate quite a bit from the original story, rendering kind of a fantastic ending, very socially normative for such a alternative-type story.
Its not the brightest, nor is it revolutionary, but the well written and incredibly performed characters make a 2h movie pass in a blink of an eye. Being scripted, produced and played mostly by woman in the contra-cultural movement of the 60's, its a great showcase of a feminist story without being overly political, and I do love a good queerbait. Jolie is the absolute love of my live please marry me. definitely a must see.
