Review of Ginger Snaps (2000) by Danielle S — 28 Apr 2008
Ginger snaps is tale of sisters Ginger and Brigitte Fitzgerald who are morbid and obessed with death, and are each others only friend. One night Ginger (Katharine Isabelle) is attacked by some sort werewolf/wolf, and begins to transform into a flesh eating animal. The sister relationship is put to the ultimate test love when Brigitte (Emily Perkins) much protect her sister as well as keep her from killing the people of thier town, and maybe if its possible cure her sister of this awful curse that becomes of her. All of the leads are excellent in their roles, with the two lead actresses Emily Perkins and Katharine Isabelle expertly playing the disturbed Fitzgerald sisters with fantastic chemistry. Kris Lemche is also notable as the drug dealer, giving a performance reminiscent of Christian Slater's shining moment in "Heathers". The has gore, lots of killing, but it does it tastefully. Overall this was a very pleasant surprise - a good teen horror movie. This is a worthy contribution to the werewolf genre, and fits nicely with "American Werewolf in London" and "The Howling".
"Suicide is like... the ultimate fuck you. ".
