Review of Ginger Snaps (2000) by Anna B — 15 Mar 2015
Maybe you have to be a big horror buff for this to work properly, but I didn't really see what was so clever about it. The puberty analogies are underlined and circled and highlighted to the point of distraction, and Fawcett's slackly-paced direction doesn't enliven proceedings much until the third act, which manages to be tense in spite of the terrible effects, and for which I bumped up my score a bit.
Isabelle's pretty good, but Perkins is just terrible.
