Review of Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence (2004) by Andy W — 28 Dec 2010
Still the gold standard in anime. Heavily overlain with reference robotic from Asimov to Descartes to Milton to Rouselle, it can be a bit over the top at times, but the breath-taking animation covers any and all faults in the plot.
The sound track ranges from Taiko to torch jazz, and the adaptation of the Hinamatsuri festival is amazing; maybe the best animated sequence ever made.
