The best, most historically accurate film I've ever seen. The 4 hour and 14 minute running time may put some people off, but it never gets boring. I think one of its greatest virtues is that it is sympathetic to both the Union and Confederates.
Also watch Gods And Generals, the 2003 prequel film.
