Review of Gettysburg (1993) by Samuel W — 05 Jun 2008
This film covers the three bloody days at gettysburg. performances are top notch, martin sheen is a perfect robert e. lee, jeff daniel gives what has to be his best performance. the score is epic, just listen to the music in the opening credits, it captures the spirit of the film nicely.
what still to this day blows my mind is the sheer amount of reenactors used to film the battle sequences. probably the best part of the film is the human element. the characters aren't plastic hollywood types, they are morally grounded characters with a sense of duty and honor.
.. try finding that in movies today.
