Review of Get Out (2017) by Jkendra585 — 16 Mar 2017
This is my first ever horror film, I just don't care for the genre. Saw this because it was getting such raves. Agree with someone else that this was more of a "psychological thriller shrouded in social commentary" which IS right up my ally.
I'm giving it a "10" not because it is perfect, but because it breaks new ground, showing race from the outsider point of view. I thoroughly felt Chris' unease every step of the way. After you watch it, go to BuzzFeed for the 22 things you probably missed.
The film is loaded with symbolism, most of which I DID miss. I think that's what elevates the film above pure horror--the directer was extremely crafty. And witty to boot. Kudus! I look forward to his next.
