Review of Get Out (2017) by Goiky — 24 Nov 2019
Peele is a **** genius. The movie is full of subtle hints at every turn of the corner that rewards careful viewers while not being wasted on the general audience. Although it may fall pray to slowness at times, the use of classic staples of filmography like sound design, setting, and ambience really never pull you out of the world, even if the action doesn't start until over halfway into the movie.
The suspense is extremely well done, and the ending is incredible. If you think the "racism" is too strong or whatever, I hate to be that guy, but Get Out. The movie drives home its themes and points perfectly, and its refreshing to see a horror movie with a message behind it in an age of cut and dry slashers.
Absolutely insanely good movie from filmography, story, tone, message, acting, you name it, it's got it. Very overt product placement from Samsung though.
