Review of Get Carter (2000) by Matt J — 19 Mar 2010
You don't fix things, Jack, you break them.
Jack Carter is muscle for hire that has been away from his family for a long time. When his brother is found dead in an automobile accident, something sounds fishy. When Jack returns home to investigate the matter, he encounters a strange ring of internet porn and internet moguls. Why would his brother be mixed in with these fruit loops?
"The rabbit's out of the hat. Let's see if it jumps.".
Stephen T. Kay, director of Wasted, The Dead Will Tell, Boogeyman (2005), and the upcoming Cell 213 and Isolated, delivers Get Carter. The storyline for this picture is slow and methodical. The action scenes and characters were delivered well but the story just seemed to plod along. The acting was solid as Stallone was outstanding while Mickey Rourke's performance was uneven.
"Cute guy.".
"You think?".
"No.".
Get Carter justifiably received poor reviews upon its release. However, I will say that Stallone's performance was very entertaining and his delivery of the character was wonderful. His lines were clever and well presented. I am a huge fan of Mickey Rourke and have seen the majority of his films. I felt he was under utilized in this movie and was not involved in enough action scenes. Overall, I recommend skipping this picture.
"It looks like the rain backed up the sewer.".
