Review of Gerry (2002) by Mike M — 23 Jan 2008
This movie, as people seem to agree, is not just a movie, it's a hypnotic experience. I'm sick and tired of people walking around saying movies like this, Elephant, and Bully suck because their boring and it's not all about action and people jumping out of cars and destroying helicopters. It makes me so angry. This movie was a truly hypnotic expericene, and most moviegoers don't have the mentality to appreciate that.
Gus Van Sant isn't out to make people satisfied with cliche storylines, he's out to give the audiences an experience while doing the thing that he loves most: making a film.
