Review of Gerry (2002) by Melissa E — 02 Aug 2008
Anyone who knows me, knows that I am a huge fan of Matt Damon. But even I couldn't go for this one. My mother had purchased this some years ago and last weekend it finally made itself into our DVD player, somehow we must have felt the disappointment radiating from the cover's reviews of "Provocative" and its support from ArtForum.
It says "Visually Spectacular" and that is about all it has going for it. This 1hr40min movie was completed by my family in a mere 54minutes of running time. This includes the 10 minutes we wasted rewinding it to figure what the heck was happening when Matt Damon rolled over on top of Casey.
Nothing happenend in this movie that has about 10 minutes of dialogue. In the words of my brother " if they'd had a meaningful conversation, it would have been great. They could've eaten a strange plant and gotten all itchy and that would have been more 'Provocative'" I give it 1 star for the greatness it could've had were it a 20 minute short film.
