Review of Gerald's Game (2017) by Michal Marek N — 10 May 2018
While the premise is full of potential the execution fails to engage on any level. Even with good to excellent performances from the actors you never truly feel! the tension of the situation. The dog does not feel agressive enough to create suspense, the added back story does little more then to highlight Stephen King's obsession with underage sex, and I might have found the moonlight man creepy had I been 7.
If a thriller is well executed a sentence like: 'then why has the dog left' should seriously creep you out, but it falls absolutely flat in this film.
