Review of Gerald's Game (2017) by Fran C — 29 Sep 2017
Mike Flanagan is quickly putting together an impressive filmography and this slow burning story might be close to the best. Stephen King should be impressed with this film, it is very close to the source material and that isn't an easy feat with King's work.
The actors are the key here and when I first learned of this film I was quite skeptical, like most King adaptions. I am eager to see what Flanagan is going to do next and I think he should stick to these character driven horror films.
Netflix need to continue down this road of filmmaking, the big budget films won't appeal to the cinema bound market and with 1922 just around the corner, my subscription looks locked in for the next 6 months.
