Review of Gentleman's Agreement (1947) by Andrey B — 27 Sep 2018
People who say that this film is outdated by modern times are lying. This same film would have won the Best Picture Oscar today too, especially today: Oscars have never been about art, it is always about politics.
And this film is absolutely artless, I'm surprised that it's made by the same director who filmed 'On the Waterfront' and 'A Streetcar'. It has only 'message' and a pretty hateful one too.
Ending is disgusting: he hurrying to her, now that she's 'cured' and on the 'right' side... What a shame. Gregory Peck's powerful acting only magnifies awfulness of this movie.
