This best picture of 1947 won quite likely because of it's subject matter. It wasn't the best film of that year, but it is a great film none the less. The cast is great, all of them. Dorothy Mc Guire can be annoying, I always find her annoying though.
She most always plays bitchy negative characters. I am sure much more powerful in 1947 than today. Celeste Holm stands out in the cast.
