Battle of the Sexes is a refreshing film, hopefully sparking a strong awards season after some disappointments since the Summer. Its feel good but with also some very strong performances not to be overlooked thanks in part to a strong script, featuring some memorable and thought provoking moments.
The palette for the film is made up of some stunning visuals and cinematography which is accompanied by a moving score. Emma Stone becomes the character evolving from her emotional performance in La La Land last year, while Steve Carell continues to show his range with some of the stand out moments in the film.
While there are some troupes of true story movies such as cliche characters, overall the films sense of setting and ability to hit its messages and character motivations just right make it a great crafted film.
