Review of Gattaca (1997) by Jens T — 10 Mar 2012
Gattaca takes place in a not so distant future where genetic engineering on humans have been so normal that the people who don't is build up by the perfect genes is looked down upon and don't have the same opportunity as the perfect ones.
One individual who have experienced this is Vincent Freeman (Ethan Hawke) who was born with a weak heart, and is expected not to live after he's 30 years old. And he has a brother who is genetic perfect.
Vincent always wanted to be an astronaut, but due to his health it's impossible. But a former swimming champion, Jerome Morrow (Jude Law) who have broke his leg but is not official cribbed. So Vincent used his DNA, his fingerprints and all so he can be and astronaut, but the question is how long does it last before they find out about his dark secret.
Gattaca is a good science fiction that is relevant because they haven't come up with an answer of rather it's right or wrong to play god. Thumbs up.
