Review of Gaslight (1944) by Nate W — 04 May 2009
This 1940's melodrama is a relaxed thriller shrouded enough in mystery to keep the viewer intrigued right up to the climax. At the centre of the film is Ingrid Bergman's delicate performance as a woman whose tragic backstory triggers what may or may not be a descent into madness.
The flick also features appropriately minimalist music by Bronislau Kaper and eerily beautiful production design that jumps right off the screen.
