Review of Gaslight (1944) by Eva3Si0N — 01 May 2023
Gaslight is an iconic noir detective film. A great example of how a film can be a detective, a family drama, and a thriller. And it's all in the noir genre. It is difficult to imagine that modern cinema is able to repeat this with the same level.
That's the value of Gaslight. It's rare for a film to have such an impact that its name becomes a household name. Ingrid Bergman's chic acting, even after 70 years, can be admired. Victorian is also well-conveyed, even the black and white shooting didn't stop it.
Of course, it is transmitted more through the interiors of the heroes' house and costumes.
