It may sound like a Hitchcock imitation movie, but George Cukor's Gaslight still managed to get my suspenseful levels flowing. It has a great cast, from Charles Boyer as the evil and menacing husband, Ingrid Bergman (who won an Oscar here) as the victim wife who's convinced she's mad, Joseph Cotton as the person trying to solve the mystery, and Angela Lansbury (in her film debut) as the suspicious maid.

Acting is excellent, the cinematography and art direction gives an eerie mood, and it's really enjoyable to watch, especially Bergman, one of my all-time favorite classic film actresses. It's really surprising that Cukor directed this film cause he's well known for his musicals (particularly My Fair Lady), but Cukor showed that he could make more than just musicals, even if Gaslight is trying to knockoff the best out of Hitchcock.
