Review of Gangs of New York (2002) by Grant V — 26 May 2011
I saw The Departed prior to seeing this and I think it kind of ruined it in a way for me because I was constantly seeking out parallels in the plots, and I think there are many of them. For this reason, I've lost respect for both movies; they lose the appeal of the originality that I saw in them beforehand.
I think this story, with such an amazing cast, had a lot of potential and I just didn't get pulled in the way I was expected to be. DDL always amazes me, but I thought he severely overshadowed Leo which bugged me.
