Review of Gangs of New York (2002) by Tsubaki S — 11 Sep 2011
A stellar cast and a great director. Amazing sets, cinematography and a good script. It all feels very epic. The action is excellently filmed though, even if the editing is a bit un-Scorsese (take the opening battle, very slick and 'modern' in the way it's been put together).
The violence is bloody. The acting incredible. However, there is something not quite right. It should be a 5 star great, but the ending feels a bit rushed and anticlimactic and something doesn't quite sit.
