Review of Gamer (2009) by Jordan P — 07 Jan 2019
I expected a lot less from this film. Although it is marred by constant shots of pornography and flashes from light to dark that are bound to cause seizures even in people without epilepsy, the film itself was surprisingly good.
Gerard Butler almost always appears like a king among peons, and this is definitely the case with this film. There are some seriously artistic sections of the movie, such as the unexpected dance routine, and some interesting ideas regarding giving up your agency to someone else.
I also really felt that they nailed the futuristic aspect of the setting. In spite of myself, I found that I liked this one, though it would have a much higher rating without those original things I mentioned.
Also, Terry Crews was pretty terrifying as a psycho killer, so props to him.
