Review of Fury (2014) by Stefano L — 03 Oct 2015
I watched this movie with expectations from mild to good, but although I was not very convinced at the end, I was neither disappointed. I just had a "I don't know" opinion on the movie. It remembered me a lot of Black Hawk Down, with less intensity for half of the movie and less emotivity and interest for the characters.
Except for Wardaddy and Norman Ellison, you don't care for nearly the totality of the other main characters, a bunch of jerks that you would very like to kill with your own hands, whose evolution throughout the movie simply doesn't happen.
That's probably one of the main lacks of the movie, as well with something that I don't know if consider as an Easter Egg to Star Wars or really bad special effects. I am talking about the shots from the cannons and guns that seems lasers ray once shoot.
I've read something about the fact that sometimes in the cannons they put tracer-guns, and this make them seem like lasers, but this explanation didn't convince me at all, because the final effect was bad, no matter the intention.
Anyway, the movie is enjoyable, although very crude in some moments, but nothing if compared to Save Private Ryan.
