Review of Funny Games (1997) by Miika V — 18 Apr 2008
Not an easy film to watch. The pointless violence on an ordinary family is so much more real than a fight in an action film. The best and most disturbing thing about this film is the complete lack of explanation of the killerâ??s motives.
We know nothing about them other than what we see happening in the film. There is no back storey and only the briefest glimpses of what they did with the neighbours. It is also worth noting the lack of violence shown as most of it is off camera.
It will be interesting to see what the remake is like.
