Review of Frontier(s) (2007) by Lee R — 16 Jun 2009
This is the French answer to Texas chainsaw massacre and Hostel and while its not the most original film it does handle the whole thing very well. The movie starts of in a near future dystopian France and follows a bunch of theives as they run from the police before ending up in a world of torture porn shit! The openning focuses on how France has gone to hell due to rioting based around the election of an extreme right wing party.
As the film stumbles into Gorno territory this plot device becomes quickly forgotten so I was never overly sure what the point of such a setting was. Still the main reason to watch Frontiers is for the nasty kills and there are plenty of them at the hands of a freaky Nazi led French hillbilly type family.
The heroine of the piece suffers some serious trauma and people are killed in all manner of inventive ways. Gore fans and people who enjoy the new wave of french horror are going to really enjoy this film.
