Where to begin? first, how did this movie get by censors? Lancaster pursuing a married woman? two of the main characters dying? both main women sailing away empty handed? this movie is an automatic favorite due to how dark it is.
No one is redeemable in this film. What an allegory for an America to come. And Montgomery Clift could act huh? Great film.
